Busy Bee Quilt Show
The Busy Bee Quilters will sponsor their 38th Annual Quilt Show from 10 am. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29, in the Post Oak Community Center at Schmittou Rd, in Post Oak off FM 2127 between Hwy. 59 and Hwy. 148. Admission is $3. Quilt entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 26. There is no entry fee and anyone may enter. Entry forms may be downloaded and printed at www.postoakquilters.com or received by mail by calling (940)567–2771. First and second place ribbons will be awarded and prizes will be given to People’s Choice votes. There will be a donated quilt given away at 4 p.m. Saturday at the close of the show. The quilt can be seen and tickets purchased in at Jacksboro National Bank, 910 N. Main St. Sept. 17-21 and at Seams Sew Right Quilt Shop, 409 N. Main St. Sept. 24–26. There will be handmade craft items and more for sale. Lunch will be available from 11a.m. to 2p.m. consisting of beans with cornbread or a sandwich with chips, served with homemade cookies and tea or water for $4. Everyone is invited to attend.

Bellevue VFD Fish Fry
The Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department will host a Fish Fry and Car Show Fundraiser beginning at 5 p.m. Saaturday, Sept. 29 at the Bellevue Community Center, 509 Franklin St., Bellevue. The meal is $10 per plate and take out orders can be called in to 940-928-2125 on the day of the event. There will be a cake auction and a drawing for a Big Green Egg with accessories. Tickets for the drawing are $5 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased in advance from any Bellevue Fireman or at the event. The car show will be held from 5-7 p.m. Anyone can enter for free just by showing up with your special ride by 4 p.m. and entering. Trophies will be awarded for several categories and live music will be provided by The Bois D’Arcs.
Back to School Hike and Scavenger Hunt
Fort Richardson State Park will host a Back to School Hike and Scavenger Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29 at the park. Hike through the park in search of the items on your list using your thinking skills to find them. Locate the items and snap a picture. Once you find them all, return to the Interpretive sent to claim a prize.
Young County Historical Meeting
The Young County Historical Commission at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Fort Belknap, Belknap Cemetery, FM 61, Newcastle. The group will meet at the fort and walk across the street to the cemetery. All are invited and encouraged to where walking shoes and clothes the may get dirty. Participants will be learning the proper way to clean gravestones and try their hand at the art of grave dowsing.
